Basal Cell Carcinoma

A few years ago I noticed a small lump on my leg which after tests was confirmed as basal cell carcinoma (BCC). This is one of the most common types of skin cancer and it carries a much lower risk of spreading to other parts of the body than most other cancers, so the treatment is usually just surgery. My preliminary investigations were carried out at Romsey Hospital although the operation to remove it was carried out at Lymington Hospital.

It is likely that having one BCC it is possibly going to happen again, and of course it has, so this Friday I start another journey. This time it’s behind my ear which is one of the many places it can occur due to exposure to the sun.  I actually don’t like sitting in the sun and try and avoid doing it. Of course in my younger days I must have been less careful.

I am being seen in a surgery at Boyatt  Wood. I’ll keep you up to date
