The other week I went and had a coffee with a friend who I met through the Atrial Fibrillation Association. We both suffer from this problem (irregular heart rhythm), which is quite frightening, isolating, and scary especially when you live on your own. It’s another of those things that you really don’t want to think about alone, in the early hours when it’s dark and you feel as you are the only one in the whole world with a problem. Of course I realise it just doesn’t effect people with peculiar heart rhythms, but anything at all. We can’t all have a night nurse to hand more’s the pity.
My friend had attended a patients’ day in Birmingham and we met to discuss the newest ideas and medication available, but her computer refused to work so she has promised she will email me with an update. When she does I will update the blog. I know there are others who have AF who live in this area and will be interested in the latest medical thoughts, and indeed many thousands of others in the UK.
