The Hospice Shop, Chandlers Ford

bdayHave I told you lately how much I enjoy volunteering at my local charity shop?

This is one of the volunteers enjoying a wonderful birthday party in the shop. I can’t imagine how long it took to blow the balloons up! Such a nice young man and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. We popped in at just the right time to have a piece of cake and a few biscuits with him, I resisted the sausage rolls though. The Managers really look after us there.

I recently made another interesting find at the Hospice Shop which prompted my memory bank. These waist cincher belts were worn in the 50s onwards, originally with those lovely full skirts, then pencil skirts and minis. If you were slim, no problems, but if you were more towards the curvy  spectrum then the elastic would roll over, not a picture you would want to keep uppermost in your mind! Think high white boots and short skirts in the 60s.
