Here are some personal recommendations based on my own experience in and around Chandlers Ford:
Cafes & Shops
The Potters Heron – Ampfield, Romsey SO51 9ZF – 02380 277 800
A lovely thatched privately-owned hotel and restaurant, great for having coffee and a long chat. The staff never give the impression that you have overstayed your welcome. Lunch is good too.
Places to eat with your 4 legged friends (i.e. dog-friendly cafes and pubs)
The Monks Brook, 19 Hursley Rd, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2FS
The Halfway Inn, 114 Winchester Rd, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2GJ
Bay Leaves Larder, 87-91 Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 5NQ
A local garden centre with a pleasant restaurant and outside seating area. Dogs welcome. Range of goods on sale from smellies to welly boots and bird food. Pleasant and welcoming staff. Good size car park although it does get very busy at times.
Supermarkets / Shops
There are several in Chandlers Ford, but I visit Waitrose on Oakmount Road – it’s not too big. I am not keen on large supermarkets. Tesco in Ashdown Road is a friendly convenience shop. The staff are very friendly but parking can be challenging.
Andersons Newsagents – 85 Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 5NQ
They offer to deliver papers and magazines etc. They sell sweets and all that you would expect from a well organised shop.

Meets every two weeks. Being on my own I felt intimidated by attending for the first time but they were most welcoming and I look forward to the get together. Lovely homemade cakes.

A small professional and friendly practice. They are a small team so your pet has continuity of care.
Chandlers Ford has other vets as well. I go to the vets mentioned because I and my dog are treated as individuals.
Julie Crouch Website Design – www.crouchweb.co.uk
A friendly, helpful lady who designs websites for small local businesses. Full of ideas.
For myself with limited walking ability The Rec off Hiltingbury Road in Chandlers Ford is perfect, with ample parking, and the circular walk is just enough for me. However during term time it is more difficult to park. There are many varied events which are held at The Hilt. The dog walkers are friendly and welcoming and the dogs are pretty good too.
Valley Park in Chandlers Ford is also a very nice walk with a pleasant stream which most dogs love to splash in. A longer walk. Parking available.
Farley Mount is a much larger area. Lovely.
