Cafes & Shops

The Potters Heron  –  Ampfield, Romsey SO51 9ZF  –  02380 277 800

A lovely thatched privately-owned hotel and restaurant, great for having coffee and a long chat. The staff never give the impression that you have overstayed your welcome. Lunch is good too.

Places to eat with your 4 legged friends (i.e. dog-friendly cafes and pubs)

The Monks Brook, 19 Hursley Rd, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2FS
The Halfway Inn, 114 Winchester Rd, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2GJ
Bay Leaves Larder, 87-91 Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 5NQ

A local garden centre with a pleasant restaurant and outside seating area. Dogs welcome. Range of goods on sale from smellies to welly boots and bird food. Pleasant and welcoming staff. Good size car park although it does get very busy at times.

Supermarkets / Shops

There are several in Chandlers Ford, but I visit Waitrose on Oakmount Road – it’s not too big. I am not keen on large supermarkets. Tesco in Ashdown Road is a friendly convenience shop. The staff are very friendly but parking can be challenging.

Andersons Newsagents – 85 Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 5NQ

They offer to deliver papers and magazines etc. They sell sweets and all that you would expect from a well organised shop.

Dogs aren’t welcome in the Brambridge Cafe, only outside.
